TOP SPOTS: Susie Love

Susie Love is an artist and jewellery designer, who also has the best laugh in the city. (Seriously.) Her laptop was acting up, so she shared some of her favourite places in Toronto with us via text.

Favourite place to go for a drink during the week (and drink of choice)

The Drake; red wine.

To go for a drink on the weekend

Reposado Tequila Bar on Ossington to hear the gypsy swing band.

Brunch spot

Aunties and Uncles on Lippincott.

Yoga studio

Downward Dog on Queen.

Place to buy books and magazines

Pages and David Mirvish Books prior to their closing.

Place to buy fabric

macFab—their new location at Queen and Broadview is gorgeous!!

Favourite overall retail experience

At Holt Renfrew. I was exhausted and had heavy bags. Emily Heung ran around and collected all the things I needed—I didn’t even have to think. :)

Top vintage shop

Tie between 69 Vintage and I Miss You on Ossington.

Place to check out art

Queen West and the Distillery District.

Neighbourhood to go for a walk in

High Park—and it must include seeing the peacocks.

Place to meet a friend for coffee

Zoots Café on Dundas.

Place in the city you feel most at home

My couch or my best friend’s couch.

  1. Susi Love has fierce style. I once described her jewelry designs as “Lucite salad tongs on steroids” Her pieces bring more second glances and compliments then any Tiffany’s bauble, as they reflect her playful and creative personality in each original design. Having sported her wearable art pieces at parties around town I love to say, “Honey, don’t be pulling at my neck- that is a Susi Love Original.” Why her designs were not showcased or for sale last week in the Allstream Center for LG Fashion week is a mystery….cause nobody creates jewelry like this gal.
