TOP SPOTS: Ainsley Kerr

Ainsley Kerr is one of the most photographed—and most photogenic—people in the city. A perennial presence on best-dressed lists and a serious supporter of Canadian fashion, Ainsley is most often described as a socialite—which is an easy way to sum up her fortunate background and busy volunteer schedule. By day, she’s an event planner. This year, she’s helming the Boobyball, ReThink Breast Cancer‘s biggest fundraising event of the year.

Ainsley shared her favourite places in Toronto with The Style Notebook.

Favourite place to go for a drink during the week (and drink of choice)

“Avenue Bar in the Four Seasons or The Spoke Club. I always have a kir royale with very little cassis.”

To go for a drink on the weekend

“On the weekend I usually prefer to just chill at home and have a nice glass of red wine in the evening. In the summer, nothing beats sharing a cold bottle of white wine with friends on a dock in Muskoka.”

Top date spot

La Palette, because it’s quiet and understated, however, you can’t beat the view at Scaramouche or the seafood at Joso’s.”

Place to buy birthday presents

“When in doubt, everyone loves a bottle of champagne or a Jo Malone candle.”

Brunch spot

“I make the best eggs so I would rather eat in on the weekends and cook up a massive brunch with bacon, toast and smoked salmon. Otherwise, I enjoy The Drake and Le Select.”

Pho, dim sum or both? (And top spots for both)

“Pho. Dim sum is delicious but I always feel so tired after eating it. If I go, though, Bright Pearl on Spadina is my favourite. As for pho, I like the Pho Tai at Pho Tien Thanh on Ossington (416-588-6997).”

Place to work out

Elements at Yonge and Eglinton. It’s a womens-only gym with the most gorgeous facilities and the best classes.”

Place to buy books or magazines

“If I’m in Yorkville, I like to check out Maison de la Presse Internationale  (416-928-3238), but if I’m downtown I stick to Chapters.”

Favourite overall retail experience

“I prefer to shop directly with the designer at their studio. I like the intimate experience—and no one is more honest than a designer when it comes to how their clothes look on you.”

Go-to manicure spot

“Lucky Nails (416-920-2402) in Yorkville or Spa Nails (416-928-6565) at Yonge and Summerhill.”

Top vintage shop

Shrimpton Couture—Cherie has the best finds! On top of that, she has an amazing blog!”

Place to check out art

“It’s nice to go the AGO with a girlfriend for an afternoon but sometimes the best finds are in non-traditional places, like coffee shops.”

Neighbourhood to go for a walk in

“Depending on my mood,  I love the Queen West strip from University to Gladstone, or a stroll in Yorkville.”

Place to meet a friend for coffee

“Caffé Doria (416-920-5315) at Yonge and Roxborough. It feels like a little slice of France.”

Place in the city where you feel most at home

“Sunday night dinner at my parent’s house.”
