Hello summer parties, heatwaves, sandals and bare legs! All of these were found at the Hello! Canada Style Icons event last week. Once again the Audi dealership on Bayview Ave. was transformed into the epicentre of Toronto’s stylish set. A red carpet, paparazzi pit, and swishy door gals indicate the scene inside—as glossy as the magazine itself.
With blow-ups of style icons hanging on the walls—Grace Kelly overseeing all with her cool-as-a-cucumber stare—guests rose to the fashion challenge.
Holts’s Moira Kelly’s super-chic LBD set the bar, while Suzanne Rogers channelled the original blonde bombshell Marilyn in a gold glittering sheath. Toronto’s celeb set was out in full force —judges from So You Think You Can Dance Canada, actresses from Instant Star (wherefore art thou, Tommy Q?) et al. The party all-stars were there too—not a Shinan, Karning or Marcus was missed.
This overheating columnist was thrilled to find a dry martini with lots of olives, and just the hint of a breeze wafting in through the floor to ceilings. And with the quality cottage materials in the gift bag— the Hello! Style Icons issue, a Grace Kelly bio and a bar of Dove chocolate—my dock weekend was suddenly looking up.
