Gossip girls and boys, ready for their manicures. Story by Anne Pringle.
Gossip Girl has been studded with celebrity appearances, including fashion-forward cameos from Chanel Iman and Michael Kors, plus a rumoured collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld. Naturally, OPI is making a line of nail polish inspired by the show (hey, if Shrek gets one, GG should too). The colours come in sparkling metallic shades such as Nicole…Spotted! green, Too Rich for You blue, and Secrets and Sparkle silver. (Refinery29 via NY Mag)
Posh’s Vogue top 5
Victoria Beckham, the newly assigned Range Rover creative design exec, has also just scored her fifth international Vogue cover. The cover was shot by famed photographer Ellen von Unwerth and will appear on the Turkish edition’s August issue, featuring Beckham in a black micromini dress and studded heels. She has also appeared on the covers of British, Indian, Russian, German and American Vogue, (plus a duo spread with soccer hubby David for the British edition), but the coveted American cover remains out of her reach—so far. Tommy Hilfiger is about to celebrate his brand’s 25th anniversary, which will be commemorated with a retrospective scrapbook of Hilfiger’s personal and professional life. The oversized coffe table book will tell Hilfiger’s life story with handwritten narrated images, quotes and inspirations, including an Icon collection inspired by the designer’s personal idols: James Dean, Grace Kelly, and Steve McQueen. The book will be available next month—for a whopping $550. (WWD)
D&G’s soccer style
Ever since the FIFA World Cup, the fashion world seems to be crazy for soccer, from Louis Vuitton’s carrying case for the Cup Trophy to the U.S. team strutting around in Cole Haan’s caramel-coloured oxfords. Next up? Dolce & Gabbana will reportedly be designing the wardrobes for London’s Chelsea Football Club. Think dark suits with crest-embroidered pockets, blue wool and cashmere coats, dark denim jeans and black calfskin sneakers. (WWD)
