Brill Communications knows what girls like. Last week, the hip Toronto PR firm hosted a pop-up beauty lounge in their John Street offices, offering hair and makeup touch-ups, as well as polish changes. The pros at Donato Salon + Spa were on hand to ensure that overstretched media and TIFF guests were red carpet ready.
From the moment I contacted Brill’s Ashley Bartlett to book a last-minute appointment, I felt like I’d entered an oasis amid a hectic, hopped up TIFF schedule. The glass of Prosecco on arrival was a particularly welcome touch.
Donato’s team brought celebrity shades from the exclusive Deborah Lippmann luxury line of nail lacquers. While I was tempted to try “Marquee Moon,” a futuristic sequined silver inspired by Rodarte (how Black Swan appropriate!), or even the popular Gaga-inspired “Bad Romance” (illustrated above), I decided to go with a deep red/black cherry for fall called “Just Walk Away Renee.”
It was only when Chantal, who was expertly applying a thin layer of rehydrating base coat to my nails, told me that I could relax my hand that I realized how tense I was! TIFF will do that to you.
But at least now I’ve got the glamour factor nailed.
