FASHION WEEK: The new class

One of my great pleasures during Fashion Week is discovering up-and-coming talent. Usually I find it in womenswear, but on Monday, it was the Service Electro collection, a men’s line designed by Freda Audrey Tam (above), that caught my eye. Shown as part of the Ryerson School of Fashion show, it featured crisp bell-hop jackets, tailored pants, bold colour and rich textures. Freda and I talked this week about what’s new and what’s next.

Who would you like to see wearing your clothes?

“The creatives: artists, actors, musicians. Any age range—men who are inspiring and inspired by my work.”

What are your favorite colours?

“I love two combinations: hot pink with purple and sky blue with primary red.”
